Global Design Project #88 - CASE The Designer Challenge

Hello everyone! How is your weekend? It has been a nice one for me. Most of my pain has been mild lately, so I am able to get more things done with my crafting and around my home. You wouldn't think that a house with just two people would get too dirty, but when you add in six cats...they are like having kids!!! Constantly having to vacuum, pick the trash back up, clean litter boxes, hairballs, and make sure they have food and water. But of course we love our fur babies and will try to do everything for them. How about you...any pets?
Today for you I have my project for this weeks Global Design Project Challenge, and it is a CASE The Designer one this week. These are fun challenges because you can use anything from the original, the stamp set, paper, layout, colors, etc. You name it and use it. I decided to use the stamp set that Shawn used and that was Rose Wonder by Stampin' Up!.
Now this stamp set does have Framelits that go with it, but I didn't use them. I just used the stamp set, and a few other supplies. And another thing about this stamp set is it is continuing into the new 2017-2018 Annual catalog starting June 1st.

I have been wanting to watercolor lately so I decided what better time then now. I did two cards for this challenge, as I couldn't decided what color of embossing powder I wanted to use. I did the embossing on both cards, one with white and one using gold. This helps control some of the watercolor from just running all over the paper. I began with the leaves using In Colors Lemon Lime Twist and Emerald Envy. Then onto the flowers I used In Colors Powder Pink and Berry Burst.

I started with the white embossed one first as a tester and to learn how to move the color around with the water. I do love how both of them came out, but I am really partial to the gold embossed one more.

I placed some Basic Pearl Jewels randomly around on the card front around the sentiment. I used Basic Grey Archival Ink for my sentiment as the Basic Black would of been too harsh for both these beautiful subtle cards. I layered both the cards with coordinating cardstock matching the ink I had chosen for the roses and leaves. That is one thing I love about Stampin' Up! is everything matches! There is no guessing and worrying about whether the ribbon or cardstock will match each other.

And of course I couldn't leave the insides empty so I lined both with Whisper White cardstock and stamped on each with stamps from the same Rose Wonder stamp set using Powder Pink and Lemon Lime Twist ink.

Here are the supplies I used:

So what do you think? I absolutely love watercoloring and I think that next week I will post a video on how I did this for those of you that would like to know how and did it and give it a try yourself. There is really no wrong way to do it and no two projects will turn out the same. If you want or need any of the items I used in today's projects, then just click on any of the above items and it will take you to my 24/7 Stampin' Up! store.
Thanks so much for checking out my blog today and I hope you liked today's cards. Remember that the days are counting down to the new 2017-2018 Annual catalog! Only 4 more days left! Join me Thursday, June 1st for my catalog launch. I will be doing a video of the contents of the new catalog along with a GIVEAWAY!! See you then!
