Global Designer Project #92 - CASE The Designer Challenge

Hello everyone! I know it has been a little bit since I last posted. I'm so sorry. Life has gotten the best of me lately and the temperature. I can't believe that yesterday it was 102f here in our little town of Snowflake. Very much a heatwave this week all over the West Coast. It was 120f in Phoenix! That's a little too hot for me. I am a strawberry-blonde, freckled, pale-skinned woman who doesn't do well in heat. Right now I wish it was Fall, my fave part of the year! What about you?
For you this week I have a new card that I created for the blog challenge over at Global Design Project. This week the challenge is CASE the Designer, in which you take some part of the card above and make it your own. Use the same stamp set, same layout, or the same colors...it's up to you. I decided to simply use the same layout that Steffi did. Here is my card...

I wanted to keep it pretty simple. I just die cut out a lot of the different flowers from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits and layered them around the opening that I die cut out with the Layering Ovals Framelits. I did first emboss the front of the card with the Pinewood Planks Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

I used a combination of the new Mini Stampin' Dimensionals and the Multipurpose Liquid Glue to put the flowers on. After that I put a small Rhinestone on top of the popped up flowers.

I stamped the sentiment so that it would show through the front of the card. Plus you get to still see the chair and the edge of the flowers. I thought it came out perfect. Here are the items I used to make this card...

Thanks so much for coming to my blog. I hope you are all having a great week so far. Don't forget that if you need any of the items I used to make the above card or anything else just click on any item above and it will take you to my 24/7 Stampin' Up! store.

Hugs,

Julie

Global Designer Project #90 - Sketch Challenge

Hello again! And welcome back to my blog. Well, yesterday my husband and I added to our purr family! Since we are Empty Nesters now and have been for a few years, we have been enjoying having our fur babies around. We had to go and do some shopping yesterday and needed to go to the pest store to get a couple things. When we walked in there was a gentleman standing by the door with a snake, which I am deathly afraid of, so I kind of quickly got passed him and headed to the back and that was when I saw them all...three little kittens. To make a long story short we ended up with a cute little gray and white boy. We did find out that his mother was killed by a coyote and the lady that found him and his brother bottle them for several weeks. What a rough start to your life.
Today I have a card for you from the new challenge over at the Global Design Project and it is a Sketch challenge. Here is the sketch:

It took me quite a few days to finally decide on which stamp set and DSP (Designer Series Paper) I wanted to use for this challenge, but I finally picked on the stamp sets Celebration Time and Birthday Delivery and the DSP Birthday Memories. Here is my card:

I wanted to emboss my three tiered cake to make it stand out more against the card. Then I die cut it out with the dies that you can get in a bundle with the stamp set for 10% off! I placed it on a circle of Gold Glitter Paper and then on a pretty doily.

I wrapped a piece of the new Double Stitched ribbon in Daffodil Delight around the DSP and placed the cake piece on top. I die cut out the cute little bow that you see on top and placed various enamel dots around on the glittered circle.

I finished my card by stamping a piece of Whispered White cardstock with a Happy Birthday sentiment from Birthday Delivery. Here are my supplies. If you found any item you can't live without just click on it and you will be taken to my 24/7 store.

Thank you so much for coming to my blog today and I hope you are fully inspired to make a Happy Birthday card for someone special in your life. Have a great week!

Global Design Project #89 - Color Challenge

Hello again and welcome back to my blog! So sorry for not posting more this week, but it has been one heck of a week. It started with getting food poisoning Monday evening and then spending the night in the bathroom vomiting. Yuck! Then because of this the rest of the week I battled nausea and an upset stomach. What fun! I saw my doctor on Friday finally and he gave me some pills to help with my symptoms, but they make me very dizzy and sleepy so I take them only when needed. I did, however, manage to get my card done for Global Design Project and here it is.
This week on GDP it was a color challenge which is one of my faves! Here are the colors for this week.
I always start my color challenges by first grabbing all my DSP (Designer Series Paper) by Stampin' Up! and go through it while thinking about the colors we have to use. I finally settled with the paper from the Delightful Daisy pack, because it contains all the colors from the challenge, plus it is just some good looking paper!

Next, I decided on the stamp set I wanted to use and it was Happy Birthday Gorgeous. This stamp set has a die cut available to get with it as a bundle from Stampin' Up! for a 10% discount in this new Annual catalog. I mainly wanted to use the die cut as my focal point so I decided to watercolor on some watercolor paper with my Aqua painters and the two challenge colors, Calypso Coral and Old Olive. I added in some Daffodil Delight color in the middle of the two other colors to provide a nice transition between them.

When I was happy with the turn out of the colors I let the whole thing dry in front of my small desk fan. I then die cut the Happy Birthday die out of this piece of paper. I placed it on top of a piece of Gold Foil paper that I punched at the bottom with my Triple Banner punch. I decided to emboss on this piece with the stamps from the set and some Whisper White embossing powder. When done, I wrapped some Old Olive Baker's Twine around this piece and glued it onto my piece of DSP. I then glued this whole piece onto another piece of DSP and then onto a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock. Next, it all went onto an A2 size Basic Black cardstock card base.

On the inside I simply stamped a flower stem with some leaves in Old Olive. Next, I stamped a balloon on the end of the stem to make it look like a balloon flower in Calypso Coral. Too cute, yeah! If you need or want any of the items used in this card just click on the item below. Here are my supplies.

Thank you so much for coming to my blog today and I hope you really liked what I did for this challenge. Remember to check out all the other projects that other people have made for this color challenge on GDP. There are some amazing items on there! Have a great week everyone!

Global Design Project #88 - CASE The Designer Challenge

Hello everyone! How is your weekend? It has been a nice one for me. Most of my pain has been mild lately, so I am able to get more things done with my crafting and around my home. You wouldn't think that a house with just two people would get too dirty, but when you add in six cats...they are like having kids!!! Constantly having to vacuum, pick the trash back up, clean litter boxes, hairballs, and make sure they have food and water. But of course we love our fur babies and will try to do everything for them. How about you...any pets?
Today for you I have my project for this weeks Global Design Project Challenge, and it is a CASE The Designer one this week. These are fun challenges because you can use anything from the original, the stamp set, paper, layout, colors, etc. You name it and use it. I decided to use the stamp set that Shawn used and that was Rose Wonder by Stampin' Up!.
Now this stamp set does have Framelits that go with it, but I didn't use them. I just used the stamp set, and a few other supplies. And another thing about this stamp set is it is continuing into the new 2017-2018 Annual catalog starting June 1st.

I have been wanting to watercolor lately so I decided what better time then now. I did two cards for this challenge, as I couldn't decided what color of embossing powder I wanted to use. I did the embossing on both cards, one with white and one using gold. This helps control some of the watercolor from just running all over the paper. I began with the leaves using In Colors Lemon Lime Twist and Emerald Envy. Then onto the flowers I used In Colors Powder Pink and Berry Burst.

I started with the white embossed one first as a tester and to learn how to move the color around with the water. I do love how both of them came out, but I am really partial to the gold embossed one more.

I placed some Basic Pearl Jewels randomly around on the card front around the sentiment. I used Basic Grey Archival Ink for my sentiment as the Basic Black would of been too harsh for both these beautiful subtle cards. I layered both the cards with coordinating cardstock matching the ink I had chosen for the roses and leaves. That is one thing I love about Stampin' Up! is everything matches! There is no guessing and worrying about whether the ribbon or cardstock will match each other.

And of course I couldn't leave the insides empty so I lined both with Whisper White cardstock and stamped on each with stamps from the same Rose Wonder stamp set using Powder Pink and Lemon Lime Twist ink.

Here are the supplies I used:

So what do you think? I absolutely love watercoloring and I think that next week I will post a video on how I did this for those of you that would like to know how and did it and give it a try yourself. There is really no wrong way to do it and no two projects will turn out the same. If you want or need any of the items I used in today's projects, then just click on any of the above items and it will take you to my 24/7 Stampin' Up! store.
Thanks so much for checking out my blog today and I hope you liked today's cards. Remember that the days are counting down to the new 2017-2018 Annual catalog! Only 4 more days left! Join me Thursday, June 1st for my catalog launch. I will be doing a video of the contents of the new catalog along with a GIVEAWAY!! See you then!

New Products From The New 2017-2018 Stampin' Up! Catalog

I can't wait until Saturday. I love Saturdays, because it is the one day a week where I get to spend the entire day and evening in my craft room! All the other days I head downstairs to the family room at 7pm to have dinner and spend the evening with my husband watching TV (usually I don't watch. I take my laptop down and this is when I usually write my blog posts). When you are an empty nester you get to spend this much time doing what you like. And when you combined the fact that I am disabled on top of that and don't work outside the home, I get to spend A LOT of time crafting or such. You would think I would be overwhelmed with all this time I have and cards would be flying out my ears, but right now I am in kind of a slump (lost my crafty mojo I think) and crafting just doesn't sound fun at times. Plus the fact that I suffer with chronic pain and a few other aliments. I push myself a lot. It really helps with the new catalog coming out and all the new product I get to play with right now. A major plus to being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator! This is my 3rd time as a demonstrator seeing a new Annual catalog launch, and I have to say that this catalog is the most absolutely amazing one yet! So many stamp sets now come with the option of getting Framelits or Thinlits with them making fussy cutting a thing of the past. And then all the new ribbon and DSP (Designer Series Paper) are so gorgeous. I am loving all the color combos.

Speaking of new items, here is a new card I made with new products from the new Annual catalog, some of which you can get right now. More about that at the end of this post so check it out. The color pink, and it's many variations, is my most favorite color. Even though the new In Color Lemon-Lime Twist is my ultimate fave I still have a place in my heart for Powder Pink and Berry Burst.
In fact, Berry Burst is the color I used for my card today. I wanted to use some of the new Color Theory DSP Stack. I love the ombre effect of the one paper and when you cut it right it reminds me very much of a paint strip you get at a hardware store. I have also been wanting to use some more of the Eastern Gold Vinyl Stickers, so I pulled them out too. I got out some cardstock and both the Eastern Beauty and Paisleys & Posies stamp sets.

I started with choosing my card base, which ended up being Berry Burst at the standard A2 size, 4-1/4"x 5-1/2". I then cut a layer for the top out of Whisper White at 4"x 5-1/4". I took out my piece of Color Theory DSP and cut it to 1-1/2"x 5-1/4". I wanted it to lay down one side of the card. I really liked the look of the border Eastern Gold Vinyl Stickers so I added one to the left side and put the Color Theory DSP next to it.
Next, I die cut out one of the medallions from the Eastern Medallions Framelits in Old Olive. The one I used does not cut out from the paper completely so you need to use some scissors to snip it away and out. I then die cut a piece of the Gold Foil paper with the Layering Circles in one of the scalloped circles to add a background to the medallion. I placed this onto my card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

A little while back I noticed that the Paisleys & Posies stamp set had some medallion looking pieces in it that I thought would coordinate well with the Eastern Palace Suite and I was right. I used one of the stamps in Berry Burst to make the center of my focal piece. I pop dotted it up too with Dimensionals and added a Gold Faceted Gem to the center. To finish it off, I slightly turned up the corners on the Old Olive piece. This came out perfect!
Next was the sentiment. I wanted to use one of the sentiments from the Paisleys & Posies stamp set, but I did not like how long it was. Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to the rescue! I have seen several demonstrators break their sentiments in half by stamping one half first, then stamping the other half underneath and that was exactly what I wanted to do. It would fit perfectly in the Stitched Shape Framelits oval that I wanted to use too. I had just the other day seen Brian King use the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig on a card awhile back and had remembered how he had done it, so I got mine out. I used Berry Burst again, and after a couple of mistakes and tests and trials I finally ended up with what you see on my finished card, and I love it! I backed my sentiment with a scalloped oval out of the Gold Foil, and popped it up with Dimensionals as well.

This card turned out beautifully I think. Of course I can't leave the inside naked, so I used another piece of Whisper White and stamped two stamps, one from each stamp set in Berry Burst and Old Olive.

Here are my supplies for this card:

Well, what do you think??? Do you like the new items you are seeing come out of the new catalog??? I sure hope so! My next few blog posts until the release of the catalog on June 1st at 12pm (MDT), I am going to try using just new product so you can get great ideas about what you want. I am having a launch party and post on June 1st with a video showing what is in the new catalog. I will give you more info on that the beginning of next week. I hoping to do either a Facebook or YouTube Live, but we will see how it goes.
Thanks so much for coming to my blog today and I hope your weekend gets off to a great start. I will have a new post tomorrow with my project for the Global Design Project Challenge. See you then!!

Aim for Alaska 2017-2018 Stampin' Up! New Catalog Sneak Peek Blog Hop

Hello everyone! I hope you are all having a great week so far. Today I have a special post for you...an Aim for Alaska new Stampin' Up! 2017-2018 Annual Catalog Sneak Peek Blog Hop! That's right. You will get to see a whole bunch of blogs with new product from the new catalog! Now as some of you know I suffer from some pretty severe back issues along with a few other things and so lately while I have been going on a reducing my meds roller coaster I have lost a lot of my crafty mojo. That is why I love new catalog time!! With all the new product we get to play with, and a lot of inspiration out there among the other demonstrators, it has helped so much.

Speaking of new product...that is exactly what I used to make my mom her Mother's Day card. I used the Delightful Daisy Suite from the new 2017-2018 Stampin' Up! Catalog. I got to work with this product at OnStage in April which was a blast and I ordered it in my Product Premiere Purchase order, a special extra for being a demonstrator that goes to OnStage! I also use a couple retiring stamps because they had the sentiments I needed. But all in all I used all the items from the suite.

The DSP (Designer Series Paper) is so beautiful. I love all the colors they used in it including one of the new In-Colors...Tranquil Tide. And it is so beautiful against Daffodil Delight. My mom loves the color yellow too so that is where I went with this card.
I first chose my DSP then put it onto a Daffodil Delight A2 sized card base. I wanted a lot of the DSP to show so I made the next layer a little smaller then I usually do. It is 3"x 4-1/4". I made the flower out of the stamp included in the set and the new Daisy Punch. I stamped the stem onto the layer and positioned the daisy with dimensionables on top. I stamped the other flowers on the bottom and then the sentiment. Pretty quick card. I positioned the doily onto the card base, then used Foam Adhesive Strips to pop up this layer. I added a little bling with the new Faceted Gems and Glitter Enamel Dots.

On the inside, and I always believe you should decorate the inside, I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock and stamped it with my sentiment and some smaller daisies down the side and some leaves in the corner. How do you like it? A very simple yet very beautiful Mother's Day card!
Here is a list of everyone in this Blog Hop, so if you get lost at anytime just click on anyone's name and continue.

Here are all the supplies I used in this card:

Thank you so much for coming to my blog today! I hope you were totally inspired by my project and I hope you are looking forward to the new catalog as well! Get those wish lists out now and start writing down what you see and be prepared on June 1st when the new catalog goes live at 12pm MDT!

CASE-ing Kylie Bertucci

Hello and welcome everyone! I have a VERY special blog post for you today. Kylie Bertucci is Stampin' Up!'s #1 Demonstrator in Australia and she is incredible. She helps not only her own "Crazy Crafters" team, but also demonstrators around the world with her weekly Facebook Live videos and more. Last week on Kylie's Facebook Live Chat with her customers, demonstrators, and all else who want to join, she shared this amazing card that she made Live with us. She remade a card using new colors from another card that she had made the week before for the Be Inspired Blog Hop. It came out looking so wonderful and I loved the color combination. Later last week I came across some digital paper with a color combination I instantly fell in love with and suddenly thought of Kylie's card and knew the two would go great together, so here it is.

I used the color combination of Powder Pink, Tranquil Tide, Smoky Slate, Basic Gray, and Whisper White. The first two are from the new 2017-2019 Stampin' Up! In Colors. I also had everything else she had used in the card so I was set.

The stamp set "Lovely Inside & Out" is part of the new 2017-2018 Annual Catalog from Stampin' Up!. As demonstrators we are allowed to purchase a select number of items from the new catalog a month early so we are able to get samples made and our customers excited about what is coming out. Also as a demonstrator if you go to OnStage, which was in April this year, you are extra privileged to purchase select items from the catalog as an award for going so that was when I had gotten mine. There is also Framelits that go with this stamp set, which I did not use.

I tried to make the card with the same dimensions as I could as Kylie's card but with her in Australia and them using the metric system some measurements don't match quite exact. I used our standard A2 sized card base which is 4-1/4"x 5-1/2". My base is Tranquil Tide. Next there is, in order, Whisper White, Smoky Slate, Whisper White, Basic Gray, and then Whisper White again. I used Powder Pink for the piece going across on top. I heat embossed the "Friend" stamp in White emboss powder and stamped the "Thanks" in Basic Gray. The card front is stamped with Powder Pink, Tranquil Tide, and Basic Gray. Finally, the whole thing is layered together and you have a fantastic card!
Here are the supplies:

So what did you think??? Did I do her card justice??? I think so! I am so in love with this color combo that I definitively see me using it again in the future. If you want any of the items I used on this card just click on that item in my supply list and you will go straight to my 24/7 store.
I hope you liked today's blog post and I hope you all have a great week. See you tomorrow for an Aim for Alaska Sneak Peek Blog Hop!!!

Global Design Project #087-Theme Challenge

Hi everyone!! Welcome to the weekend! I hope that all of yours has started out great. I haven't been feeling to well and today I had to go to the doctors to find out what is going on with my tongue. Yep, you read that right...my tongue. Since December I have been having pain in it that feels like I have scalded my tongue with hot chocolate. It is so annoying and makes it very difficult to eat a lot of different foods. Mainly anything spicy, acidic, or with vinegar. Also I have very bad dry mouth all the time. We did think it was Thrush a couple months ago but it hasn't gone away with treatment. So today I learned that I have Burning Mouth Syndrome...what fun!!! The worst part is there is no cure and no really good medical treatment for it. YUCK! And even more fun is it is very rare. So for now I have to eat bland food and see a specialist. They have found that Botox is working really well with it and if you are thinking to yourself, "Aren't those injections?" Yes you are right, and Yes they stick the needle into your tongue and lower lip, not once or twice but...wait for it...roll dramatic music...16 TIMES!!!!!! I will have to think about this as I have serious needle phobia. I hope you are all doing so much better then me right now.

For my card today, I am doing the challenge over at the Global Design Project. This week's challenge is a Theme about Cooking, Mixing, and Baking. Now I don't own any current Stampin' Up! stamps that fit this theme so I stretched it a little bit and thought that well they use fruit in baking and cooking so I could use that...couldn't I??? So I used the soon retiring Fresh Fruit stamp set and corresponding DSP (Designer Series Paper). Both are in the 2016-2017 Annual Catalog and both retiring on May 31st.

I first started with picking out the piece of DSP that I wanted to use then I got out the cardstock that matched. I knew right off that I wanted to use the peach as my piece of fruit. I also wanted to use the small flowers as well. After making my card base, I got to the stamping part which was going to be a bit different this time.

I wanted to layer the small flower on top of my peach so that meant "Masking." Masking is where you use a piece of paper or special masking fluid to cover a part of your already stamped piece so that the next stamped item will not mix with the other colors of ink. Most often people use "Post-It Notes" as their mask because you can use the sticky part of the paper to temporarily hold the mask down. You also need to think a little backwards for this. Mainly the last stamp you would stamp normally, will be the first stamp you will make and make the mask of. In this case it is the small flower. I stamped onto a small piece of Post-It making sure I stamped over the top side of the sticky area of the note using the small flower. Next, since there are no Framelits or Thinlits for this set, I got out my Paper Snips and cut around the stamp as close as I can get. Next, I stamped the small flower twice onto my piece of cardstock in Flirty Flamingo. I then placed the two masks I made on top of them. Next, I stamped the peach stamp onto the cardstock between the flowers in Peekaboo Peach and then the leaves in Pear Pizzazz without removing the masks yet. Then I removed the masks and I will admit I wasn't too happy with my first attempt so I did it again with much better results. Next, I embossed the outline on the flowers with Gold Embossing powder. Then I die cut out the peach and the scalloped frame behind it.

My next steps was just putting the rest of the card together. I did, however, have a little boo boo on this card. While I was cutting out the small piece I was using as my title, I inadvertently sliced two of my fingers open on my Trimmer, so there is a small drop of blood on the back of the title. Lol.

Here is my supply list...

Thank you so much for coming to my blog today and for taking a look at the GDP Challenge. You should try it out for yourself as it is so much fun. Enjoy your weekend!!!

Global Design Project #086-Sketch Challenge

Hello again...how have you all been? I hope all you mothers out there are having a great Mother's Day today and enjoying a day all to yourself. My boys have both wished me a Happy Mother's Day today, and I will call my mom in just a little bit. I did make her a card along with my two sister-in-laws which I will post this week. I think they turned out pretty cute. I made a goal starting May 1st to send out a handmade card to all my family members for the various holidays and birthdays that happen in the year. I'm a little late with my Mother's Day cards but they are going in the mail tomorrow for sure.
Speaking of handmade cards, I have a new card for you to see today for the Global Design Project Challenge. It is also for one of my niece's birthdays. This week on GDP the challenge is a sketch. I'm not sure if I like sketches too much. To me I always have a harder time coming up with an idea when faced with a sketch. I prefer color or theme challenges. I know a lot of people out there prefer sketches to get them started on a project and I used to be on a scrapbooking design team that used sketches but that was a few years ago. Here is the sketch:

For this challenge, I first started as I normally do for sketches, with looking at Stampin' Up!'s DSP (Designer Series Paper). When I pick one I think would be a good match, I often go for the stamp set that matches the paper too. I also had an agenda with this card as it was for a young girl's birthday as well, so that made the choosing a little easier. So I went with Tasty Treats Specialty DSP, Cool Treats stamp set and Frozen Treats Framelits.

I did, however, use a different birthday greeting as the one's in the set were just too big for the front of my card. I used one from Balloon Adventures stamp set, and this stamp set is retiring too. I also used the Washi Tape from the Cool treats Suite and a new item from the new 2017-2018 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog. It is the Oh My Stars TIEF (Textured Impressions Embossing Folder).

I continued the theme to the inside of the card by stamping several strawberries in the corner and a birthday greeting in the middle for my niece who has turned 3 yrs old!

Here are the supplies I used:

I encourage you, if you haven't already, to purchase this Bundle as even though it is continuing into the new catalog it will not be available as a bundle anymore with the extra 10% discount. Plus this set is just too cute for words! With summer coming up for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere this set is PERFECT!!
